INDEPENDENCE DAY SPEECH
BY
PRESIDENT BUHARI

My dear Nigerians,
October 1st remains a special date for all Nigerians as this marks the day when we attained one of the most precious of human desires — freedom.
Over the years the country has gone through trials and tribulations, but October 1st is always a day for celebrations.
It is a day for thanks giving, reflection and re-dedication.
It is also a day for remembrance. We should remind ourselves of the recent journey from 1999 – 2015, when our country happily returned to democratic rule.
However, in spite of oil prices being an average of $100 per barrel and about 2.1m barrels a day, that great piece of luck was squandered and the country’s social and physical infrastructure neglected.
We were left with no savings and huge infrastructure deficit.
The APC Government’s Campaign rallying cry to restore security, re-balance the economy and fight corruption was not all rhetoric.
The country must first be secured. The economy must be re-balanced so that we do not depend on oil alone. We must fight corruption which is Nigeria’s Number One Enemy. Our Administration is tackling these tasks in earnest.
In the past two years, Nigeria has recorded appreciable gains in political freedom. A political Party at the Centre losing elections of State Governor, National Assembly seat and even State Assemblies to the opposition parties is new to Nigeria. Added to these are complete freedom to associate, to hold and disseminate opinions. Such developments clearly attest to the country’s growing political development. But like all freedoms, this is open to abuse.
Recent calls on restructuring, quite proper in a legitimate debate, has let in highly irresponsible groups to call for dismemberment of the country. We cannot and we will not allow such advocacy.
As a young Army Officer, I took part from the beginning to the end in our tragic civil war costing about 2m lives, resulting in fearful destruction and untold suffering. Those who are agitating for a re-run were not born by 1967 and have no idea of the horrendous consequences of the civil conflict which we went through.
I am very disappointed that responsible leaders of these communities do not warn their hot-headed youths what the country went through. Those who were there should tell those who were not there, the consequences of such folly.
At all events, proper dialogue and any desired constitutional changes should take place in a rational manner, at the National and State Assemblies. These are the proper and legal fora for National debate, not some lop-sided, un-democratic body with pre-determined set of objectives.
Government is keeping up the momentum of dialogue with stakeholders in the Niger Delta to keep the peace. We intend to address genuine grievances of the communities.
Government is grateful to the responsible leadership of those communities and will pursue lasting peace in the Niger Delta.
SECURITY
On security, Nigerians must be grateful to our gallant Armed Forces for rolling back the frontiers of Boko Haram’s terrorism, defeating them and reducing them to cowardly attacks on soft and vulnerable targets.
Nigeria is grateful to its neighbours and the international community for the collective efforts to defeat this world-wide menace of terrorism.
Not even the most organized and most equipped police and security forces in the world can escape the menace of modern day terrorism, as we have seen in recent years in Europe and other parts of the world.
But we are not letting up. Our Armed Forces in an effort to enhance the operational capability of troops of OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE have established Mobile Strike Teams in the North East. These will ensure the final push to wipe out the remnants of Boko Haram.
In addition, through targeted air strikes most of the leadership and identified logistics bases and routes of the insurgents have been neutralized. The Armed Forces have established a Naval presence in the Lake Chad Basin as part of th

PRESIDENT BUHARI'S ADDRESS TO NIGERIANS ON THE 21ST AUGUST 2017, UPON HIS RETURN FROM THE MEDICAL LEAVE ABROAD

“I am very grateful to God and to all Nigerians for their prayers . I am pleased to be back on home soil among my brothers and sisters .
In the course of my stay in the United Kingdom, I have been kept in daily touch with events at home . Nigerians are robust and lively in discussing their affairs , but I was distressed to notice that some of the comments , especially in the social media have crossed our national red lines by daring to question our collective existence as a nation . This is a step too far .
In 2003 after I joined partisan politics , the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu came and stayed as my guest in my hometown Daura . Over two days we discussed in great depth till late into the night and analyzed the problems of Nigeria. We both came to the conclusion that the country must remain one and united.
Nigeria ’s unity is settled and not negotiable . We shall not allow irresponsible elements to start trouble and when things get bad they run away and saddle others with the responsibility of bringing back order, if necessary with their blood .
Every Nigerian has the right to live and pursue his business anywhere in Nigeria without let or hindrance .
I believe the very vast majority of Nigerians share this view .
This is not to deny that there are legitimate concerns . Every group has a grievance . But the beauty and attraction of a federation is that it allows different groups to air their grievances and work out a mode of co -existence .
The National Assembly and the National Council of State are the legitimate and appropriate bodies for national discourse.
The national consensus is that , it is better to live together than to live apart .
Furthermore, I am charging the Security Agencies not to let the successes achieved in the last 18 months be a sign to relax .
Terrorists and criminals must be fought and destroyed relentlessly so that the majority of us can live in peace and safety .
Therefore we are going to reinforce and reinvigorate the fight not only against ; elements of Boko Haram which are attempting a new series of attacks on soft targets , kidnappings , farmers versus herdsmen clashes ; in addition to ethnic violence fuelled by political mischief makers . We shall tackle them all .
Finally , dear Nigerians, our collective interest now is to eschew petty differences and come together to face common challenges of ; economic security , political evolution and integration ; as well as lasting peace among all Nigerians .
I remain resolutely committed to ensuring that these goals are achieved and maintained . I am so glad to be home .”PRESI

PETER OF P-SQUARE RESPONDS TO APC'S CALL FOR HIS ARREST.

Peter Okoye of  P-square has reacted to the call by the All Progressive Congress (APC) youths national secretary, Collins Edwin for the security agencies to arrest the musician for comments alleged to be against the Federal Government.

You will recall that the APC Youths Renaissance Group led by Collins Edwin had called out on P-square for criticizing the rationale behind  FG's call for the ban of shooting music videos abroad. Collins who described Peter as "a son of darkness" calls for his immediate arrest by the security agencies. "we, therefore urge the security agencies in the country to arrest Mr Peter Okoye for disrespecting our government and bringing it to a disrepute"

Reacting to the call for his arrest, in his Twitter account @PeterPsquare, he says "Abeg make him order Egusi, pounded yam and goat meat join for the arrest, I know those youth will start from 70 and above. Onye ala"

YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE, YOUR CHILDREN ARE STUDYING ABROAD,  YOUNG6IX LAMBASTS LAI MOHAMMED.

Onome Onokohwomo A.K.A Young6ix has lambasted the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed for his purported call on the creative industry, that is, the music and the home video(Nollywood) to stop the production of music videos abroad.

The Warri born artist faulted the call by the information minister, describing it as double standard. According to the message shared on his Instagram page, Young6ix  described Lai Mohammed as a hypocrite who has his children abroad studying in different universities but comes up with decisions that favor him.

His message reads thus,
"Dear Sir Lai Mohammed, address us and let the world know where your family members are currently studying.
"Justify your wicked art.
" In a country that is supposed to be run by leaders, its heartbreaking to know that it's being run by looters.
"Lai Mohammed seeking relevance in the wrong way. You and your government have failed our people with your countless demising moves.
"Politicians should be stoned when making such a speech. I trust Nigeria is getting to that level. You are ruling people not statues"

You will recall that the Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed had on July 15, 2017 through his twitter account @MohammedLai, warned members of the creative industry of the consequences that await then, if they shoot Music videos abroad. The message reads thus
"If you shoot your musical videos outside Nigeria  you will be prosecuted. Shoot all your videos in Nigeria we have good locations."

This call by the Information Minister has generated a lot of reactions from the members of the creative industry. Peter and Paul Okoye of P-square, as well as the elder brother and manager Jude Okoye were the first to react to the foregoing. They described the call as a double standard call, as politicians still go abroad for medical treatment.

Jude Okoye writes thus "let all of you stop running to abroad when you are sick as na naija money una dey use patronise oyibo hospital dem"
Peter Okoye says "Dear FG, for your information, all the shame wey una dey bring for this our country, na we dey entertainers dey cover una Nash! Ndi ala"

On his own part, an A-list comedian, Francis Agoda popularly known as I Go Die, has advocated for a dialogue between the stakeholders in the entertainment industry and the Federal Government, to avoid what he described as 'confrontation' that will do no party no good.

PASTOR CRASH LANDED, BREAKS BOTH LEGS, WHILE TRYING TO FLY TO JERUSALEM ON AN ARTIFICIAL WINGS

Wonders they say, will never cease to happen. More so now that, people have sworn to affidavit, not to allow the sleeping dogs lie. A senior pastor with Labourer's Assembly in the Bomet County Area of Kenya, pastor Nwanga Gwranja has been licking his wounds in the hospital after he crash landed while trying to fly to Jerusalem using artificial wings.

Trouble began when the controversial pastor announced to his congregation and also to the entire village that he will soon embark on a voyage to Jerusalem. According to Standard News, the pastor was quoted as saying that, he was following an invitation by God Himself in a dream, and that the said journey will be carried out using artificial wings.

Residents say they never took the pastor seriously, but things started taking a drastic turn when, he started hammering on the issue during his sermons, especially the Sunday that preceded the "doomsday". He was subsequently seen with an improvised wings made up of polythene bags and rags attached to his shoulders. A member of the church says, " we thought he was joking until he appeared dressed in his flying gear, bidding people farewell".

The pastor who asked curious members of his church to accompany him to a tall Eucalyptus tree, which he says was a take off spot as directed by God, seriously rebuked elders of his church who had gathered on hearing the apparent suicide mission of the pastor, saying God was showing him the elders burning in hell for trying to stop him. "you can not stop an idea whose time has come, more so when it has the blessings of the most high! Just let me go" insisted the pastor who is atop of the tall tree.

It was reported that cries and wailings of women and children who feared for the pastor's life, did not move him a bit, as he insisted saying, "you can command humans to stop going against worldly cultures but commanding against God's commandments is impossible. You should rather repent because these are the last days, Jesus is coming back"

The last straw that broke the camel's back was, when the controversial pastor discovered that, a young man who had climbed the tree in order to get him was almost catching up with him, he spread his wings and took a dive.

Consequently, the pastor was seen tumbling down with a loud sound, and immediately began moaning and groaning and wailing, begging people for help. Before help came to him, he had already broken his two legs, blood were seen flowing off his nose, and he later passed out. He was however rushed to a nearby local hospital.

PDP GIVES PRESIDENT TO THE NORTH, VICE TO THE SOUTH

The People's Democratic Party, P.D.P., who recently recovered from a protracted political cancer, occasioned by the leadership quagmire that practically crippled the party's political calisthenics, has announced its 2019 timetable.

Rising from its stakeholders meeting in Minna,  the Niger state capital, where the party discussed the aftermath of the Supreme Court verdict on the party's leadership tussle, the Niger state chairman of the party, Alhaji Tanko Beji reveals that the party's National Convention will take place in October.

The Niger state kingpin of the party opines that, sequel to the announcement, it is therefore incumbent on the various state chapters of the party to forward names of 30 members that would  serve on the convention committee.

He nevertheless confirmed that the party's leadership have taken a decision on the zoning of the presidency of the country in 2019. He maintained that the North will produce the president while the vice goes to the South. He advised those seeking any political office, to first seek the mandate of the people, as the era of "no vacancy" and "godfatherism" is long gone, and imposition of candidates, anathema.

ABIA STATE SPEAKER ORDERS POLICEMEN TO SHOOT FRSC OFFICIALS FOR STOPPING WIFE'S VEHICLE

Chikwendu Kalu, the Abia State House of Assembly speaker on Saturday ordered policemen to shoot at the officials of the FRSC on patrol along the Umuikaa/Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway for stopping his wife's Sport Utility Vehicle.

Hell was let loose on Saturday when members of the FRSC on a routine patrol along the aforementioned road, tried to stop the vehicle, with which the wife of the Abia State Speaker was traveling in. The driver of the suv refused to stop, but only to stop at a distance, then reversed, after which a policewoman, who seats at the passenger seat in front of the car, believed to be an officer of the DSS attached to the governor's wife, alighted from the car and dragged the official who stopped their vehicle to the ground, accusing him of hitting their vehicle.

In the face of this pandemonium, it was gathered that one of them put a call across to the speaker, whose village is close by. Upon arrival, he (the speaker) ordered the policemen he came with, to shoot  the armless  officers who were sitting inside the patrol vehicle and pitilessly beat up the team leader.

It was gathered that while leaving, the forcefully opened the patrol vehicle and made away with the battery. They therefore left the team leader and the officers who were shot on the road stranded. It took the help of passers-by to convey the shot officials to the hospital.

BREAST AND MAN;
A MARRIAGE ORDAINED BY NATURE

Have you ever wondered why men are so glued to breast, and can not do without it?  From bambino to adolescent, to adulthood and down to the aged, men are enviously attracted to breasts. Yours truly has always wondered why, one should be so engulfed in something he does not have. If you ask me, but don't ask me, I would say that, it is rather criminal for one to lust after what he did not have.

Nevertheless, according to Dr. Justin Lehmiller, in a peer-reviewed journal, The Psychology of Sex, the relationship between man and breast is an age-Long relationship, anchored on an evolutionary background.

Backtracking it to the human evolution, Lehmiller says that the female breasts become a symbol of attraction when human beings started walking upright. He however opined that, before man started walking on two legs, the greatest source of visual excitement for men was the female buttocks.

"However, when we stood up, the buttocks were no longer as prominently displayed. As a result, the thought is that the breast became bigger and more pendulous in order to mimic the visual appeal of the breast" he concludes.

Another theory also holds that, man's preference to breast was borne out of the believe that, stimulating them strengthens bonding with a female partner. "the basic idea is that women find breast and nipple stimulation to be sexually pleasurable. In fact, some women find nipple stimulation so pleasurable that it can lead to orgasm in and of itself" he uncovers.

Scientists believe that breast stimulation causes the release of oxytocin in the brain - a hormone that is believed to be responsible for the bonding of humans. It plays a great role in the bonding that occurs between a child and the mother during breastfeeding, as well as romantic partners who have sexual contact.

They therefore posit that, man's skyrocketed attraction to breasts is precisely because, breast and nipple stimulation tap into this neurochemical bonding system that has the propensity of bringing couples closer. Also, it is believed that man's inordinate love for breast is due to the indication that, breasts are agents of sexual maturity and fertility status.
